Tex Avery had the same situation in "Picador Porky" seven years later, when Chuck Jones' animation for Porky doing his magic act with the bullfighter's cape featured a lot slimmer version than the one used in the rest of the cartoon (though that seemed to be some sort of test version of the new design, snice that was pretty much the one Avery would use in his next Looney Tune, "Porky's Duck Hunt").
