Fly Fight

Porky Pig is attacked by a fly in Porky and Gabby (1937).

The tent collapses on the two of them and the fight continues.

Bob Clampett and Chuck Jones made this cartoon when Leon Schlesinger contracted some work out to Ub Iwerks’ studio. There’s no real Iwerks influence in this, but there are lots of speed and motion lines.

  1. Never heard of anyone getting stung by a fly.

I suppose the buzzing sound-effect throws people off--The Wiki entry for this cartoon also claims its a fly in its rambling summary, as well.

    1. If Wikipedia says it, then I must be wrong.
I went with fly because I didn't see a striped body or a stinger and because of the mention of a flyswatter.

  2. All three of the Iwerks-connected Looney Tunes, including the one that ended up being done back at Warners, "Porky's Badtime Story", are frustration cartoons, either with things like not being able to set up camp, not being able to go to sleep, or dealing with an obnoxious brat. Not the most enjoyable thing to watch, but it does play better when Gabby is the one being annoyed instead of Porky.
