“By the Sea” plays in the background in a good portion of the cartoon, and includes a scene of Pluto briefly tussling with a crab. Disney would make that sort of thing more elaborate as the ‘30s wore on.
Americans invented butts, you know, the same way they invented teenagers and animated cartoons. No other culture is as fixated with that particular part of the anatomy. Look at ads for jeans, that most uniquely American of garments; invariably the focus is on the seat.
