Swingin' the Cat Around

Let’s see...there was Popeye swinging a bull by the tail in Bulldozing the Bull (1938). There was Droopy swinging a bull by the tail in Señor Droopy (1949). And there was Jerry Mouse swinging...

No, it wasn’t a bull. It was Tom in The Milky Waif (1946). In eight drawings on ones.



Mike Lah, Ken Muse and Ed Barge are the credited animators. Here is the scene in an endless loop.

  1. Actually the song in the background is "Poet and Peasant Overture" by Franz von Suppe. Also very common in cartoons.
    Ben Hardaway might say all that swinging is a bunch of "bull". :)

  2. Also some uncredited Ray Patterson and Irv Spence (or Dick Bickenbach?) animation in this cartoon, typical of mid-40's Tom and Jerrys.

    1. It was Irv Spence. Bickenbach didn't get to MGM until about 1946.
