Stop and Go Wolf

Traffic signals attack the wolf (Tedd Pierce) in “Little Red Walking Hood.” He tips his hat to Red (Elvia Allman) and gets clobbed by a stop signal.

Egghead (or is he Elmer?) crosses the street.

The wolf is happy the red signal vanishes but then gets smacked by the green one.

Irv Spence is the animator of the scene (see the comment from Mark Kausler), but Virgil Ross, Sid Sutherland and Paul J. Smith likely worked on this cartoon as well.

  1. Hi Tralfaz,
Actually the only Irv Spence animation here is the fourth still down, I don't know who did the actual stop sign gag.

  2. This IS a great Warner's Avery epic. A whole sequence of Irv Spence animation from this short is included in Joe Adamson's "Tex Avery: King of Cartoons." I wish I DID know, like the redoubtable Mr. Kausler (one of my heroes), who animated what scenes, but from the slightly overstudied look and lack of squash-and stretch, I'd say definitely not Ross, probably Smith. - cji

  3. The backgrounds in this cartoon always stuck out to me. What gorgeous use of color pencils!

  4. Contrary to popular belief, this is NOT Egghead. This is the first appearance of Elmer Fudd, the rabbit hunter who looks and sounds different. https://daffydoodles.blogspot.com/2020/07/the-eggheadelmer-debacle.html
