Gil Turner, La Verne Harding and Bob Bentley are the credited animators. Ray Jacobs and Art Landy provide some great settings and Clarence Wheeler was inspired to write both Guy Lombardo and Johnny Ray musical parodies. This may be my favourite cartoon directed by Paul J. Smith.
Of course it's a good cartoon. It was written by Mike Maltese.
ReplyDeleteBiggest mistake Lantz made was demoting Don Patterson and keeping Paul Smith as a director - imagine what Patterson could have done with Meltese's stories!!

ReplyDeleteSmith's first 18-24 months of directing really wasn't all that bad, even when he wasn't working with Maltese. Once you get past "Niagara Fools" or so in 1956, the quality level drops off a cliff.
