There's nothing wrong in re-doing a bit, if you can make it funnier the second time around. In this case, Maltese took his gag from "Racketeer Rabbit" and topped it by setting up the Sheriff to do the face plant just before he got to the end of the song.
Besides this, my second favorite bit in this cartoon is when fast talking Bugs hood winks the Sheriff into buying land on the royal grounds, he practically has his home built before he realizes he’s been duped. He stops humming....slowly looks around....the repeatedly hits himself with his hammer shouting “ I hate myself...I do...I do..I DO!!” Hilarious cartoon.
