The World of Lantz

Here’s an ad from March 11, 1945 with an assortment of Walter Lantz characters from cartoons and comic books.

Eight Ball and Oswald were no longer part of Lantz’s theatrical world, while Miranda Panda wouldn’t appear on screen for a few years. Milo first appeared in “Crow Crazy” in 1945.

Unfortunately, the artist isn’t identified. You can click on the picture to make it bigger.

  1. I'm mildly surprised Eight Ball would still be in use as late as 1945, when most studios had moved away from that sort of thing.

    1. George Pal's Jasper was still blossoming around this time (but people took notice).

  2. Wally and Woody appear to be re-enacting here the "Aren't you a little impulsive?" scene from SKI FOR TWO (aka Woody Plays Santa Claus.)
