Cut to the next scene. The acorn sprouts legs and dances; after all, this is a musical cartoon. The squirrel smashes the acorn only to find a caterpillar in it. The annoyed insect smacks the squirrel in the snoot with part of its body, which bounces back into place, and the caterpillar dances off scene.
This is from a typical 1930 Silly Symphony, Autumn, which has animals gathering food for storage to Carl Stalling’s classical beat. Ub Iwerks gets the only animation credit. This is a seasonal followup to Springtime (1929) and Summer (1930); Winter was released the following October.
