Kitten Smears
Chuck Jones’ cartoons had smear animation right from the start. Here are a few examples from the first cartoon he directed, “The Night Watchman” (1938).

I recall Steven Hartley telling me (from information passed from Greg Duffell) that Ken was responsible for the smears in Freleng's and the early Jones cartoons.
