"Elderly Man River" (Record 1, Side 1, Track 2) combined elements of the sketch as performed on Shows 6 and 15, while "Bang Gungleigh, U.S. Marshall Field" (Record 1, Side 1, Track 5) switched back and forth between the versions from Shows 11 and 15 (though the "Puffed Grass" commercial ["Chock full of vitamins and Clorophyll, too"] with Stan as test pilot "Jet Crash" was better on the Show 15 version than from Show 11, so Capitol did a good call on that one).

Also, one wonders if Freberg's mid-'50's song parodies, with the constant interruptions, helped spur the market for actual outtakes of recordings with crosstalk between artist and producer, etc. (with some, like those of Chess recording artists, containing expletives not appropriate for a family blog) and possibly influenced Phil Spector to add opening and ending crosstalk on some tracks of The Beatles' "Let It Be" album; as well as, in the case of his "Heartbreak Hotel" parody, him being an unwitting godfather of psychedelic rock (with the excessive echo effects at the end anticipating what was heard on such tracks as The Chambers Brothers' "Time Has Come Today," "It's Wonderful" by The Young Rascals, "(Don't Worry) If There's A Hell Below We're All Going To Go" by Curtis Mayfield and Funkadelic's "Maggot Brain" - none of which had even one-sixteenth of the humor Stan possessed).wbhisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02270661237413315760noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3738012638904762739.post-36459331987926390012015-04-12T08:19:47.830-07:002015-04-12T08:19:47.830-07:00Jerome Kern did some of his best pre-natal work im...Jerome Kern did some of his best pre-natal work impersonating Stephen Foster.
B.
