Now I've Seen Everything
Suicide gag in a Bob Clampett cartoon? Sure. A few of them had one. Here’s the one from “Sour Puss” (1940), featuring a cat that goes nuts over fish. He’s so crazy he kisses a mouse.

Same gag (with a fish instead of a bird) in, of all things, Clampett's adaptation of Dr. Seuss' "Horton Hatches the Egg."
ReplyDelete...and again with a cat, as the end gag for "An Itch in Time" (Tashlin would borrow it for "The Stupid Cupid", while compounding the gag by having the cat keep shooting himself through all nine of his lives).
DeleteMaybe I'm missing something, but I could never figure out why this particular gag got repeated so often, or the point of it.

DeleteOn the other blog, the frames sometimes don't load. I have to shut down the browser and try again, but this sounds like a different problem.
